Recycle your old clothes and do your bit for our environment
Hands up if you make time to recycle your old clothes!
If you put your hand up, then give yourself a huge pat on the back! Did you know that a whopping 1/3 of all clothing in the UK ends up in the bin rather than be donated to a charity shop or deposited in a local recycled clothing bin? That means that 1/3 of all the clothes we chuck away ends up in landfill sites, causing more harm to our planet.
The team here at Recycled Clothing Banks, would urge you rethink your decluttering strategy; if you feel that your clothes are too worn to be worn, please don’t throw them in the rubbish bin. By simply donating them into a local recycled textiles or clothing bin, you could give them a second lease of life with someone who desperately needs them. By making this simple change, you are enhancing somebody else’s life, reducing the number of textiles we bury in landfill and you can create more wardrobe space for yourself in a far more environmentally-friendly way.
It’s our job to make ways to recycle your old clothes, paired shoes and household textiles like towels, curtains and bed linen simple and cost-effective. That’s why we work tirelessly with businesses, charities, local authorities, councils, schools and other public services by providing FREE branded recycled clothing bins where people can drop off their pre-loved clothing and textiles and enjoy a new way to recycle your old clothes.
You don’t need to worry about maintaining the area where your recycled clothing bin is situated as once it is full, we will come and empty it, clean it and leave the surrounding area free of any overspill donations and rubbish. Once back at our depot, we will sort through the clothing donations, weigh them and pay you £300 per tonne for your reusable donations. These will help poorer communities across the UK and abroad as well as helping our homeless community.
The money you earn from clothing donations can be used towards community projects, local charities or funding new recycling initiatives in your area. You really would be surprised by the number of clothing donations we get that are given a second chance once we’ve collected them up!
You can usually find a selection of recycling bins in public areas such as supermarket grounds, retail parks, garden centres and local car parks or visit your local council’s website to find your nearest recycling area. However, if you live in an area that doesn’t have many recycling points for unwanted clothing and textiles, give us a call. We would be more than happy to install one or more of our free recycled clothing bins in your local area so that your community can recycle and we can reuse.
Let’s work together to help recycle your old clothes as a community-wide project in a convenient and environmentally and financially rewarding way.
